An Almost Silent Sunrise

I’m baaaaack!

My dad left yesterday after a ten-day visit from New York, during which I was way too busy planting flowers, going to the beach, and eating frozen yogurt to update the blog (if I said things like “sorry I’m not sorry,” now would be the time).

My aunt Joanna came from Denver for the first three days of his visit (I hadn’t seen her in six years!), and it was so great to have them both here.  We packed a ton of Outer Banks fun into their time at the beach, and I have lots to write about in future posts, but we spent one morning doing something that is better illustrated in pictures than in words.

Why would someone who has to get up at 4:30am for work three days a week voluntarily wake up at the same time on her day off?

This is why.

My aunt has only seen the ocean a handful of times in her life, so watching her watch the sunrise over the Atlantic was more exciting for me than watching the sunrise itself (her reaction was probably close to what mine would be at viewing the Rocky Mountains, which she sees every day!).

I am lucky to have the family I do, and I am lucky to live at the beach.

  1. Man I love the beach. I wish I lived on a sunset beach, though, because that whole waking up early thing? HARD.

Glad you had a nice visit. 🙂

  2. So jealous you get to live so close to the ocean. Luckily it seems like the last 5 years or so I’ve been able to see the ocean at least once a year on vacation! Kansas has some pretty awesome sunsets though even though there’s not an ocean involved. 🙂
